Lakewood Area- Walnut Creek Homes
It's always a surprise to anyone who doesn't know that there's a lake in Walnut Creek. Lake Lakewood was man made and has a lot of history. Most of the home development in Lakewood began in the 1930's when it was expected that the opening of the Caldecott Tunnel would increase demand for homes in Walnut Creek. Home development began and today the Lakewood area features some of Walnut Creek's most sought after homes.
The lake in Lakewood is a private lake, where neighborhood members pay a fee to use it. There are also several homes located on the lake and those of course go for a premium. Lakewood homes are known for their charm, country feel, and feed to distinguished schools with convenience to downtown Walnut Creek. If you like trees, Lakewood homes have a lot of them!
Location and Value of Lakewood Area Homes
I currently live in the Lakewood Area and I love it. My office in dowtown Walnut Creek is just five minutes away. Living in Lakewood gives residents and I a rustic and country feel to upscale class within a mile. Just take a walk and you can experience Walnut Creek's famous dining, shopping, nightlife and theater. Literally, you can hop in your car and be shopping inside Nordstrom in less than five minutes.
For people who like to hike, one of the entrances to Shell Ridge Open Space is right next to Indian Valley Elementary. Indian Valley Elementary School is the only school in the immediate neighborhood and it's setting next to the beautiful Shell Ridge is unbeatable. Indian Valley is part of the Walnut Creek School District and has been honored with a California Distinguished School Award. Students in Lakewood would graduate to Walnut Creek Intermediate School and Las Lomas High School, all three of these schools are top rated according to state testing.
With Lakewood homes so close to downtown Walnut Creek and great schools, the homes currently for sale are a bit pricy, but they are a great investment. Residents have easy are close in access to BART, highway 680 and 24 for work or weekend getaways.
I currently operate a facebook page for Lakewood. Please feel free to like the page for the latest updates and videos for what's going on in the Lakewood Area.
